Summer in the Ravenseyrie Gallery During Covid-19

The Ravenseyrie Art Gallery has been open for sometime now, albeit on truncated hours as the Gore Bay Harbour Centre is following a cautious reopening due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Several of the shops/studios are closed completely until the virus is no longer a threat.  The marine museum is closed as is the lower level. Four of our tenants have been willing to be open to the public on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 4pm. For myself, I have been keeping my usual hours (Tuesdays thru Saturdays, 10am to 4pm) all through the pandemic lockdown and am continuing in that manner even now, though the rest of the building may be a darkened cavern at times.  Should visitors come on one of the days when the Harbour Centre is closed, they may come around to my studio door on the 2nd floor lakeside of the building and ask for permission to view my gallery.  Facemasks and sanitized hands are part of our protocol.  I provide wipes I make using alcohol and tea tr...

New Cards for the Holidays

New from Ravenseyrie Studio & Art Gallery My sincere apologies for so little updating of this art blog.  I am much better at creating art and poetry for my physical gallery than I am for sitting in front of my computer and doing right by the virtual gallery.  There is room for improvement and I will try... For today, may I present two new cards for the winter holidays? Each card measures approximately 5 x 7 (10 x 7 when opened) and are printed with archival inks on heavy-weight paper imported from Italy.  Comes with your choice of red or white envelop, please specify.   $5 each or 7 for $28 "The Big Wide Open at Ravenseyrie" reproduced from the original sumi-e Outside verse: Let real life seduce you, Embrace the sensuous touch of wind and sky.   -L. Gerard Original art card and verse by Lynne Gerard Inside verse: Wishing you a winter rich with natural beauty and warm with festive comforts. Merry Christmas...

Ravenseyrie Fine Art Greeting Cards

Destemido - Fearless One Original Sumi-e by Lynne Gerard The majority of the painting and writing I do is influenced and inspired by elements I find very close to home.  Living on the Ravenseyrie Sorraia Mustang Preserve assures that a number of the works seen in the gallery are of noble equines. As I work on building up the webpage for my Fine Art Greeting Cards , I have been taking photos and typing up descriptors of the many card designs I offer in my gallery.  These cards come under different categories, for example, "Birthday", "New Baby", "Just Because", etc. and are each printed, assembled and hand detailed right here in my studio on the bay.   I also offer Christmas and Holiday Cards, but mostly these are in a different type of card style requiring less handwork and are grouped within the webpage I've titled, Fine Art Notecards . I do however have two Holiday/Christmas cards that I have made that are of the same style as my ...

Inspiration and Influences

Spring Thunderstorm Over Ravenseyrie East Bluff, Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island Ontario, Canada This blog entry was first published in the Journal of Ravenseyrie on June 4, 2016. The MOST important source of inspiration for painting ideas is our own lives... and what we like most. ( Jack Dickerson ) I have been influenced by paintings I have seen in books, and in museums, not because they defined success but because they suggested possibilities. ( Eleanor Blair ) Every day I wake up thankful to have made choices in life that make it possible to live here on Manitoulin Island. The dynamic elementals of our life on the Ravenseyrie Sorraia Mustang Preserve provide me with infinite inspiration all times of the year and catalyze creative ideas that number greater than my mind and body are capable of sustaining. The big sky, the roaming winds, the shifting colours and the indigenous flora and fauna - especially the horses - permeate my senses whether I a...
