Cranes Dancing and Singing / Original Sumi-e

Cranes Dancing and Singing
Original Sumi-e and verse by Lynne Gerard

Here’s a colourful, uplifting piece featuring a pair of dancing Sandhill Cranes.

The cranes that return each spring to our Ravenseyrie Sorraia Mustang preserve can be observed dancing not just during breeding season, but all throughout their time here until they take their leave of Manitoulin Island in the autumn.  It is clear to me that the "singing" and dancing these birds engage in so frequently is often for pure enjoyment.

These marvellous birds and their joie de vivre inspired me to write a new ditty to accompany this ink painting:

When we dance,
When we sing,
We create a positive energy
That sets the world right.
        --L. Gerard

This sumi-e painting is being presented unframed, accompanied by my hand-calligraphed poem, matted and mounted on Japanese washi paper and protected by a crystal clear plastic sleeve.  15 x 15 inches, $235
