Original Paleolithic-style rock painting by Lynne Gerard |
This small Paleolithic-style rock painting I made recently is one that I was compelled to put up as an art-giveaway gesture of good will, hoping to facilitate some positive energy to counter so much suffering the world is experiencing.

I have a number of ditties I have written to inspire me to choose to behave in ways that are mindful and edifying. Some of these I have put on my fine art cards and others I use in my Oracle of the Raven cards (more on those in a post later this week).
It is very easy to be kind when the world we encounter is non-threatening - but when things are going very badly and people are behaving in odious ways - what is an appropriate way to respond?
Anger serves a role, but most times it is a knee-jerk reaction that does harm to others and ourselves.
Anger is a type of pain and as Nisargadatta says, “pain is a call for attention”.
So I think about why I am feeling angry…I do some deep breathing and dispassionately analyze it…then determine what would be an appropriate response to whatever circumstance I find myself feeling the pain of anger in.
In response to the many recent backward, malicious ways humans are behaving worldwide I have stepped up my habit of using beauty to counter the ugliness we humans are too readily capable of. To that end, I have decided to give away a small sculptural Paleolithic-style rock painting I made yesterday.
The title of this work is: Beauty Is As Beauty Does
I will have a draw on Friday morning, LIVE, here on Instagram and whomever’s name I draw I will send them this rock painting at my expense.
>>The only string attached is that whomever wins this artwork reflects upon some of these little sayings below and uses the artwork to help them remember to be a positive influence by spreading beauty in their thoughts and deeds.
