A title image that I designed, but decided not to use. |
Greetings from Manitoulin Island! My name is Lynne Gerard. Using the combined mediums of painting, poetry and calligraphy I offer up the results of my creative endeavours in the small gallery that conjoins my lakeside studio.
My Ravenseyrie Studio & Art Gallery has operated out of the Gore Bay Harbour Centre since December of 2006, (a number of years before the municipality received a bundle of grants to completely renovated this old ship of a building). The building was quite derelict back then - keeping a studio in those rough conditions felt quite bohemian - but the place has absolutely always been the perfect spot for me to create.
Over these many years, I have been devoting my focus on maintaining and operating the "brick and mortar" gallery so that it always has ample inventory of my existing products yet also displays my new works. Because of this dedication, I have refrained from joining the many social networking platforms that are being utilized all over the world to showcase and promote art. I don't tweet, don't do the Facebook thing, don't Instagram, etc.
But I do engaging in blogging. I have maintained The Journal of Ravenseyrie since 2008, which has mostly been a chronicle of the Ravenseyrie Sorraia Mustang Preserve my husband, Kevin Droski, and I established on our East Bluff property in 2005.
This winter, I have decided it's time to build a blog just for the studio and gallery business. It is sure to be a slow process setting up a new blog and trying to find the right way to bring my works to online viewers. I'm sure to make many mistakes that will have to be remedied, but it will be a great learning experience and I finally feel up for the challenge.
So bear with me as I work to construct an online presence that reflects and enhances the lovely physical space I have been fortunate enough to work from all these years.
